FOCUS is a 25-item self-report screener for grades 6–12 that takes ten to fifteen minutes — the student’s own account rather than a teacher’s observation of them. Adaptive follow-ups trigger only on the answers that warrant them and route straight to the district’s threat-assessment team. It exists because a student carrying silent ideation is precisely the one a referral-based system never sees, and because Georgia’s HB 268 now requires districts to look.
